Inform - I know I should exercise but I can't get started !

I know I should but I just can't begin
The picture above might make you smile but it is all too true. We wait till tomorrow, till the first of Jan, till just before our holiday or an infinite number of reasons when we need to just START ! Maybe the first day of exercising goes well but then it rains, or its too hot ,too cold or it just doesn't feel right so time marches on and the momentum is lost. We have all been there but this article might help you cement some exercising into your day and give you the tools to keep going day after day.
Make exercise a habit, not a choice.
If it is left up to choice then we keep pushing the decision to exercise to later in the day and then it doesn't get done. How many times did you forget to clean your teeth this week or comb your hair? I bet your grooming routine gets done without you having to pay much thought or attention. You don't make a decision to clean your teeth , before you know it that job is done and usually embedded into the same routine that you go through every day. That is what you need to do with exercise. Take my morning routine, I jump out of bed at the same time every day and before my brain engages, I am dressed to exercise and out of the door. Every day I get the same triumphant feeling as I am setting off to work that whatever happens today, I have already accomplished something great.

Win the day
If you are new to exercising then small bouts of exercise can get you off to a great start and don't feel like too much of a sacrifice. Here at Agefit daily, we suggest you add a small dose of exercise to something you will do without fail that day. Putting on the kettle for your morning, lunchtime, afternoon cuppa is an ideal example. Use your 3 minutes wisely to dance around the kitchen or better still fire us up on instagram and follow the daily exercise programme. It focuses on different facets of fitness such as strength, flexibility and co ordination, all in bite size chunks.
Other ideas might be:
10 step ups on the bottom step every time you head up the stairs for something
sit to stand exercises when the adverts come on during your favourite TV show
Walk to the corner shop to buy your newspaper
Do some stretching exercises in bed before you get up and before you sleep
The list is endless, take a few moments to really consider where and how you can prioritise exercise in your daily life
Commit yourself to a group, club or friend
Another great way to nudge exercise into your weekly routine is to commit to something. If you arranged to meet a friend at that pilates class and you know she is looking forward to it, then you are less likely to back out at the last minute. See if you could become part of a team, then your attendance and participation become more of an obligation and before you know it , you experience camaraderie and start feeling you belong to something important and meaningful. Honestly , exercise doesn't have to be a slog and it can open your eyes to a whole world of possibilities and lead you down paths you never expected . Go on - jump in today !

Just start and see where it leads you

We have a theme for each day focusing on balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination. Click the button to do the exercises together. The exercises take as long as it takes for your kettle to boil. Do them each time you make yourself a cuppa and you will already have done a third of your exercise for the day if you boil the kettle 4 times.

Lets move together
Monday's exercises focus on flexibility and moving ankles and knees through the full range of motion.
