Travelling is an exciting, renewing experience. Whether you are heading off to the airport, jumping on a couch or spending a few days in a nearby location, it is a chance to refresh and renew yourself. Travelling brings a chance to renew relationships, make new friends and experience different food and cultures. As an older adult, there are also extra perks to travelling that you should capitalise on. Read on - you may have your bags packed by the end of the day!
Price reductions for senior adults - Don't forget to ask for discounts. Many companies will provide a discount. Don't forget the travel discounts too, trains and bus companies charge less if you fall into a certain age category, less spent on the travel, more to spend once you arrive.
Choose to travel outside school holidays - the joys of travelling at less busy times means that you can enjoy the off-peak rates and benefit from shorter queues at attractions and beauty spots
Easily make new friends - Group holidays are more common and easily accessible . Check out your local travel agent, local paper or websites. You will have ready-made friends just waiting to share experiences and conversations. Group holidays generally organise guides that take you to the heart of the action without you having to concern yourself about itinerary.

Get your bag packed and get going
It is always good to be prepared whatever your stage in life. You don't have to concern yourself with how many nappies to take or how to keep kids amused on the plane any more, but there are some factors you may want to consider prior to the trip to ensure it runs as smoothly as you would like:
Take out health insurance. - if you are going abroad you want the peace of mind that all your health needs are covered. Use comparison websites to get the best deal
If you have mobility issues, check if the facilities in the accommodation are suitable for you. It is always worth checking ahead to ensure you are placed in a room that suits your needs
Consider how you will get around. Is the accommodation nearby to the attractions? How far will you need to walk to the nearest town? You may want to have a holiday away from the hustle and bustle or it may be an unwelcome surprise if you find yourself in a remote spot!
Ensure you have enough medication with you for the trip and take an up-to-date prescription just in case. Just because you are going to take in the sea air, doesn't mean you won't need your asthma medication
Take your camera, take pictures, build memories and have fun - after all that’s what holidays are for
Educate -Mobility Monday
We have a theme for each day focusing on balance, strength, flexibility and coordination. Click the button to do the exercises together. The exercises take as long as it takes for your kettle to boil. Do them each time you make yourself a cuppa and you will already have done a third of your exercise for the day if you boil the kettle 4 times.

Little and often all adds up
Monday's exercises focus on knee flexibility. Having a knee that straightens and bends fully allows for efficient walking - Give these a go.
Motivate - Senior snooker
We all need some inspiration to keep us motivated. If you live anywhere near Sheffield UK, you can't have escaped snooker fever as Luca Brecel held off Mark Selby in the World Snooker Championship held in Sheffield. Here you can find competitors who have moved into the next age category. It is a chance to keep snooker fever going and is a treat for snooker fans to watch their old favourites keep the competition alive. This year Tony Drago from Malto and UK's favourite Jimmy White were among the competitors. Fans were treated to a spectacle of snooker at a fraction of the cost with entry being charged at only £15! We have discussed many times now the benefits of sports and this section encourages and piques your interest to try a long-forgotten hobby of yours or to try something entirely new. How about Snooker? A small-scale study in the UK took 6 aged UK participants and coached them in snooker for as little as 2 hours per week. Guess what? Participants experienced greater self of well-being, likely due to the challenge of planning the game and the increased social interaction. If packing your trainers and heading off to the gym is not for you, then how about dusting off your cue and looking up your local snooker club? Take your friend or pay a visit and no doubt there will be a local friendly afternoon where you can find ready-made snooker partners. Need some help?
