5 Quick Confidence Boosters

We all have those days where we just don’t feel at our best. We can’t be on top of our game all the time , but what if everyday is starting to feel like blah 🙃 boring, uneventful or just downright drab? If your off day is starting to turn into an off week then its time to take stock. Empower yourself, there is much you can do to get a spring back in your step and restore your zing .

Restore your zing !

  • Get your best dress out - We all have clothes that we feel good in. The colours suit our skin and hang in a way that makes us feel good. Don’t save your best outfits for special occasions. Today is as important as any day, if it gives you joy then put it on. It will make you feel great and what you give out is reflected back to you. Prepare for people to return your smile as you radiate positivity on your weekly shop

  • Clean up your act - Self care is never time wasted. Take time to get ready today. Wash your hair , cut your nails and put some polish on if that’s your thing. Spray on your favourite scent and consider a hair cut if you’ve been neglecting your looks. What you give out, you get back and it will boost your confidence no end

  • Learn a new skill - Bored with the old routine? There is no excuse not to learn something new. Make yourself a cuppa and think about a time when you lost yourself in a task. Was it gardening, playing an instrument, drawing a picture ? Reawaken an old hobby. You can bet that there is a group or class that you can indulge in. Fire up the internet or head to the local library or community centre , you may even find inspiration that you hadn't considered

  • Do some exercise - The physiotherapist in me wanted to put this as the first option 😀 Exercise gives you that feel good boost. It takes away your mind from rumination and plonks it back into the present. Sweating it out really does lift the spirits and keeps you standing tall. When was the last time you exercised , go out there and have some fun

  • Socialise - What are you waiting for? If you are waiting for the phone to ring then shame on you! There is someone out there that you can brighten up their day with a call . Invite an old friend out to lunch , visit a family member, plan a weekend away with your mates or volunteer. Socialising can give you a new perspective and really boost self esteem.

Get your best dress on and DANCE 😃

Educate - Wobbly Wednesday

We have a theme for each day focusing on balance, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Click the button to do the exercises together. Today we are looking at 3 drills you can practice today. Do them each time you make yourself a cuppa and you will already have done a third of your exercise for the day if you boil the kettle 4 times.

Practising balance is simple and effective

Motivate - Amazing British Actors over 70

We all need some inspiration and where better to look than on the screen? We have enjoyed the talents of these inspiring actors for many years on the television. Did you know that these British actors are all over 70 years old and are still giants in their field ?

  • Sir Anthony Hopkins - Winner of 2 Oscars - film includes Silence of the Lambs - Born in Wales

  • Sir Ben Kingsley - Star of Gandhi , born in Scarborough

  • Dame Helen Mirren - Winner of 4 Academy Awards , born in London

  • Dame Judi Dench - Well known as M in James Bond Films, born in York

Celebrate - Rocking it in their Own Way

You don’t have to be a famous actor to inspire others. Meet some of the social media stars who share their stories to inspire others.

I enjoy the posts of Train with Joan - who shares her fitness story and is now stronger and fitter than ever. She is testament to the fact that you can start your exercise journey at any age and age better and fitter than ever

Let’s also celebrate those who keep fit to stay independent and manage their daily tasks. I enjoy the posts from Nandopersonal who shares his imaginative ways of adapting exercise to keep people mobile and fit for life.

I think you should take your job seriously - but not yourself, that is the best combination
